Running head: [SHORTENED TITLE UP TO 50 CHARACTERS] 1 Work Locus of Control Jason Ingram Grantham University
[SHORTENED TITLE UP TO 50 CHARACTERS] 2 The meaning of locus of control is the degree of which a person generally perceives events to be under his or her control or under the control of others. This control relates to both job satisfaction and the performance of the job. After taking the self-assessment on locus of control I scored 24. When someone scores a 63 or lower reflects on their internal control. Having internal locus of control is for one to be confident in their ability to be successful when performing a task in a satisfactory manner. Those with a higher internal locus of control is to be believed to have a positive attitude toward learning new things because they believe that it is more likely to be useful and beneficial. When looking at leadership, those in charge such as managers tend to have internal locus of control. When looking at the scoring, I see that I scored a 24 which means that I have internal locus of control. Out of my classmates I score lower than most students in my class and also those within the school. When I review my answers with those that of my fellow classmates, I have noticed that most of my answers were those in agreement of my other classmates. I am not quite sure if I agree with my score, but I do stand behind my answers. I do believe that a job is what you make of it. If you can find the good or the fun in the place you work in, you can have an enjoyable time with the company. There is more than one type of Locus of control. We already know what internal control is but what is the counterpart, external locus of control. Those with external control are those that are more likely to feel feelings such as helpless and powerless. Those with these feelings have the tendency to play the victim role such as blaming, criticizing, complaining, and giving up so quickly. Looking at myself in the mirror, I can now see and understand why I scored on the internal side of the locus of control. Since I am in a leadership role at work, I have to have

Within a work setting, it is important to have internal locus of control. The feeling of having internal locus of control is associated with achievement and the success of the tendency to attribute both the success and failures of your actions. This gives ones-self and employees the chance to study their actions and find put where they had gone wrong and make improvements where necessary. If I want to have the same answer next year for the question “if you know what you want out of a job, you can find a job that gives it to you”, I want to be in a job that brings me joy and friendship with those that I work with. Today, I feel that I am in place that brings me joy, and I have made friendships with those that I would not have if I had worked somewhere else. I strongly agree that you can find a job that gives you everything that you want within a job.
