Report
1 Weekly Reflection Michele Fletcher University of Phoenix DOC/741 Dr. Elliot and Dr. Gavin 9/26/2021
2 Weekly Reflection The activities from this week involved examining credibility, transferability, validity, and reliability . Lincoln and Guba have provided strategies that can assist in ensuring that credibility, transferability, validity, and reliability are met (Erlandson et al., 1993). My proposed dissertation has triangulation and member checking as part of the strategies that will be employed to ensure credibility. Transferability will be achieved through purposeful sampling and rich, thick descriptions of the experiences and perceptions of the sample population. Validity and reliability can be examined by the ability to repeat the study under similar conditions and though the checks that are conducted throughout the research process such as interviews that are recorded and data checks. Some of the challenges this week has been in getting the proper wording for my interview questions, which I received input from my committee on changes that I have made and other challenges have been ensuring that I meet my deadlines for completion of the IRB application. I’m almost ready to send it to my committee for review. In terms of life experiences, I had my flu shot this week because I’ve already had my COVID vaccinations, but I have been a little under the weather anyway. I want to make sure that I stay healthy as possible during these times and that I stay focused on my goal. Onward and Upward!
3 Conclusion This week’s readings have provided a great deal of insight into the expectations that I should have regarding my research study. I was able to get more accomplished this week with my chapters 1-3 and I was able to continue my IRB application. My goal is to complete the IRB application this week and submit it to my committee. I have one more figure that I am going to include in my study and then I will be confident based on the feedback that I have received.
