2 BUSN663: Gantt Chart As plans move forward with the Bedford County Substation an allocation of proposed, committed, and needed resources is required to further grasp the details of the project. Resources needed to ensure the project meets deadlines, and completion are not only the time and materials utilized but the assigned workers. Resources needs must ultimately balance against the budget and because of overtime pay, and changes in material costs, it's vital to understand and track resource costs. The beginning tasks of the Bedford County project utilize a heavy reliance on work-related resources such as the need for surveying work to be done, architecture plans begin drafting and finalized, and even consulting subject matter experts require tracking and budgeting. These types of resources rely on human skillsets and services and are going to take from the budget in prorated salaries or potentially by the hour and could require overtime pay. The next stages of the project rely on services as well but utilize heavy equipment and transport of materials. These resources are needed to ensure the site is cleared, cleaned, and prepared for construction. Delivery of the materials needed for construction requires the purchase of materials or resources that are not human and account for a variety of costs from market changes of the material, delivery, and other fees and can quickly go out of budget if not carefully tracked. During these last final tasks, the resources utilized will rely on the materials delivered and multiple different sets of work and services as construction begins, electrical installation follows, and the final test and commission of the substation is completed. During this time it's vital to understand and prepare for unexpected occurrences and ensure the budget for resources can account for this. Conclusion
3 In conclusion, the successful execution of the Bedford County Substation project relies on attention to detail and an adaptive approach to resource allocation, tracking, and budgeting. The multifaceted nature of the project requires an in-depth understanding of various resource categories, ranging from human skillsets and services to materials, equipment, and transportation. Each phase of the project, from initial surveying and architectural drafting to construction and commissioning, represents a multi-faced effort reliant on cooperation and efficiency. While resource allocation inside Microsoft Projects seems mundane it is a simple yet effective way to capture the importance behind successful resource management and allocation as the project unfolds and ultimately reaches the end of its lifecycle.
