Which kind of organization would you like to work for? Which would you consider to be the best? Which would be the most realistic? Think about its structure, physical environment, line of communication, treatment of employees, recruitment and promotion practices, policies towards the community, and so on. Consider also, how some benefits are reversely proportional (for example, if the company contributes to the community or offers more employees benefits, there might be less money for pay raises).
Please read and respond to the above questions. Then read and reply to at least two other students. In your response, you could ask your classmate a question, expand on one of his or her statements, ask for clarity on one of the points, etc.

I am interested in pursuing a career in human resources, particularly training and development. I would
also like to work for an organization that helps the surrounding community. A few years ago, I learned about a company called Icon Build that uses 3D printing technology to build homes, including homes for those that suffer from chronic homelessness. This organization is using innovative technology to tackle real world problems, helping people both locally and internationally. I would love nothing more than to be employed by an organization like Icon Build. I have held multiple jobs in different financial institutions,
and I never agreed with many of the practices used within the organization. I would often feel as if I did things, I did not morally agree with maintaining employment and it is important to me that I do not put myself in these situations in the future. When researching Icon Build on websites such as Glassdoor, employees of the organization highly recommend them, and they mention the competitive pay and benefits. Having the option to be employed with an organization that uses innovative technology, helps the community, and provides good
pay and benefits would be ideal. I have worked in a situation where my benefits were reversely proportional to my pay. I was young at the time and did not consider how the benefits package was part of my overall compensation. I was unhappy with my hourly wage, but the employer covered 100% of my health insurance cost and the family plan was moderately priced. I currently pay upward of $1200 a month in health insurance for my family now. When I reflect on my hourly wage now, I understand why I was being paid the rate I had. When considering an employer, I am sure to research their median salary and benefits package in comparison to their competitors.
