To: Department manager Subject: Video Suggestions
Dear Department Manager, I received your email regarding suggestions about the video for our potential candidates. The video is a perfect way to show new candidates a preview of what we do on a daily basis and will help support our initiatives for diverse talent. I suggest including interviews with our current
employees. We can interview our entry-level employees to our management employees and have them discuss what their job entails. Primarily, we can capture the employees working in their roles from changing the scene to them just speaking about the role and asking why they like working for the company. My second suggestion is to highlight what is unique about the company and the company’s culture. These considerations support our initiatives related to employee experience, recruitment, and diversity because it shows the dynamic and the expectations of working for our company. It is essential to include a diverse group of employees that will be participating in the video. This will highlight the different work opportunities we have and the expectations of their daily tasks that are assigned. Sharing the company’s culture and uniqueness can show what it feels like to work at the company and what we value. We need to take into consideration the diversity in our recruitment process efforts because it is important for many reasons. This will open a substantial group of talent and bring new ideas and different experiences to our team. It will lead the company beyond with being more creative and improve the workplace in a positive way. I look forward to further working together to ensure that we have a video that best represents our company. Please do not hesitate to contact me back if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you, Sarah Villanueva HR Manager

Interviewing Candidates
The interview is the most widespread selection method used to fill positions in organizations. Unfortunately, research on employment interviews has shown that, without proper care, interviews can be unreliable, low in validity, and biased against different groups. One way to improve the interview process is for HR staff to keep the interview structured, standardized, and focused on accomplishing a small number of goals. Moreover, using situational interviews—where applicants are confronted with specific issues, questions, or problems that are likely to arise on the job—have provided pertinent information about the way an applicant may handle the job he or she is applying to fill. In the following case, a local small business is overwhelmed by responses to a job posting and asks an HR consultant to assist in the selection process.
