1 Neha Begum Lnu Fundamentals of Project Mgt.-7A9 11 th October 2023 Modern Project Management - Case Study 2 1. For each part (A, B, C), what phase of the project life cycle is each project in? Explain. Part 1 The life cycle of Fatma's project is currently in the defining stage, during which time the project's objectives, requirements, tasks, responsibilities, etc. should all be assigned. The goal of Fatma's project is to convert an empty warehouse into eight two-bedroom apartments, but other details, such as the type of community space and furniture, are still being worked out. Additionally, as Fatma pointed out, her project manager must complete the scope before they can begin planning, demonstrating that they are still in the defining stage before the planning stage. Part 2 It is evident from part B that Viktoria and Jasper's project is currently in the execution stage. This stage has demonstrated where a significant amount of the project's work is done. The testing of the first prototype by Viktoria's team failed at this stage, but thanks to her project manager's forecast and the modifications made to the original plan, they were able to work on the other two alternative batteries technologies, and the alternative technology had passed all of the tests, allowing them to reduce the impact of the delay. Part 3 The project life cycle for Viktoria is currently in its closing phase. Delivering the project to the client, rearranging and redistributing the project's resources, and post-project preview are the
2 three activities that fall under this stage. Viktoria was recently finishing up her project by gathering and documenting the important issues that arose during the project implementation, as an example. Along with her team, she was conducting a project post-mortem. 2. What are two important things you learned about working on projects from the case? Why are they important ? The two key lessons from the provided case studies are project definition and risk management planning. A project can move in a clear direction toward its final goal with the help of a well- defined scope of work, priority, and requirements. At the beginning of the project's launch, it is crucial to conduct team brainstorming sessions and discussions about the project's overall goals, work scope, priority, specifications, time constraints, allocated duties, etc. Team members in each project are made aware of their roles and duties through this approach. Every project must go through a critical stage of careful planning to ensure uninterrupted progress. It entails risk management, which is a method for identifying, analyzing, forecasting, and planning for any potential internal or external threats that might be arising in the project, as well as getting ready to respond to risks and plan for alternate course of action. This may involve minimizing unforeseen costs or effects of the risk and maximizing the short-term outcomes.
