Text can be found in a large document by clicking on the Find button
located
on the Home tab. The Find button will open the Navigation pane on the left side
of the document. The word that needs to be found in the document can then be
typed into the search bar. Results can be browsed in the Navigation pane by
occurrences beneath headings (Headings), occurrences on pages (Pages), or
occurrences in sentences (Results).
Purpose
Upon completing this project, you will know how to use the Navigation pane to
search for text in a Word document.
Steps for Completion

Open the .docx file named

Documents
A link or hyperlink is a clickable shortcut to part of a document or to an online
resource. You can add links between areas of your document to make the
document easy to navigate. Links can help with referencing information that is
documented in the document. You can create links that point to text that is in one
of the built-in heading styles or to specific areas within the document that you
have bookmarked. External hyperlinks will take the user to separate documents or
websites.
Purpose
Upon completing this project, you will be able to create links to areas within a
document and create links to external websites.
Steps for Completion
1.
Open the .docx file named
112-brochure
and scroll down to the
Membership Pricing (per month) heading on page 5.
2.
Insert a bookmark named
MembershipPricing
at the beginning of the heading.
3.
Go to the beginning of the brochure and at the end of the first paragraph add a sentence that links to the
MembershipPricing bookmark and reads:
See our membership pricing
4.
Add a hyperlink that points to the website
www.ncsf.org
to the text

in
the first line of the paragraph on page 4.

Save the project as a .docx file named

Move to Specific Locations and
Objects in Documents
There are several options in Word for moving to specific locations or objects in a
document. The Go To feature
will take you to a page, section, line, bookmark,
graphic, or any other type of object in a document. The Navigation pane used in a
previous project is another option for moving between headings and occurrences
of text. The Selection Pane feature
allows you to navigate between all objects
and lets you see whether objects belong to groups.
Purpose
Upon completing this project, you will know how to display and use the Go To
feature and the Navigation pane.

The Show/Hide ¶ button
will allow formatting symbols to be seen on just the
specific document that it was selected on. The Display tab of the Word Options
dialog box

text to display in every Word document that is edited with that computer.
Purpose
