Word 2019 Project Workbook, First Edition
Apply Style Sets
A style set is a collection of style definitions that look good together. The styles in
a style set will have specific font styles, font sizes, colors, and text positioning so
that the document is consistent and attractive regardless of what style set is
chosen, as long as you have used the built-in styles (Normal, Heading 1, Heading
2, Title, Subtitle, etc.). A style set deals more specifically with text characters,
headings, and paragraph styles. Style sets will be assigned to the whole document
all at once by clicking on the style set choice. The Style Set gallery is on the
Design tab in the Document Formatting section.
In addition to style sets, other aspects of the document can be adjusted all at
once. The colors that are available in the color palettes are determined by the
selected choice in the Colors gallery. Changing the Theme Colors selection will
change the color all items that use any non-custom colors. The Fonts gallery
allows you to change the document styles’ fonts. Any non
-custom fonts will be
changed when a Theme Fonts option is selected.
Style sets, theme colors, and theme fonts are bundled together into a theme. The
Themes gallery will allow you to adjust all three at once, as well as save themes to
your computer for later use or load themes based on other documents.
Purpose
Upon completing this project, you will be able to use the Design tab to apply a style set to the entire brochure.
Steps for Completion
1.
Open the .docx file named
122-brochure
2.
Apply the Basic (Elegant) style set option to the brochure.
3.
Save the project as a .docx file named
122-Word-finished
in the Student folder.
4.
(True or False) A style set will not reset text alignment.
