Maximo Daniel Rodriguez Santos MAR 4203 Professor David Taks November 6, 2023 Chapter 5 Questions 1. What did the tablet replace? What will replace (or has replaced) the tablet? The tablet replaced the use of a computer when conducting transactions or conducting marketing of products in retail stores as well as convenient stores. This allows for services with the software handling products to deliver overall product satisfaction more efficiently. Soon there will be more of the already automated stores which make inventory for users as they select the objects from the shelves and walk out of the store are charged. In California there are already some stores with these characteristics. Stores with the technology needed to effectively complete transactions are permitting customers to enjoy distinctive services. The tablet being replaced by priorly acquired information’s such as an account or already known user details will allow for faster secure transactions. 2. Perform a SWOT analysis for The Coca-Cola Company in the soft drink category. What are the biggest threats and opportunities? What are Coca-Cola’s relevant strengths and weaknesses? What strategic actions are necessary for the company to thrive by 2025? The biggest strength of Coca-Cola is the multigenerational loyalty of clients because of its marketing influence on a global scale. The amount of generated revenue over the years and their consistency ranking as S&P 500 top 50. With its many global understandings and embraced cultures, it collects the most customer analytics for high demands making it dependable to a certain extent by its consumers and profited businesses. Technological advancements allow for easier visibility of traffic for better conservation of users. In the upcoming years it is crucial for Coca-Cola to develop ways in which the product may maintain its quality while commercializing for a vaster audience. With the conversion of the products’ biodegradable potential for a safer environment, more variables and SKUs need to be guaranteed its proper systematic management. With more than 900 facilities already developed across the globe they can facilitate commodities for customers from distinctive locations depending on the requested order details. 3. Develop a scenario based on the proposition that hydrogen-fueled cars will continue to improve and take 15 percent of the automotive market in a few years. Analyze it from the point of view of an energy company like Shell or a car company like Mercedes. With vehicles that generate electricity using oxygen from the air and compressed hydrogen, the market of the near future is making its way to more mass manufactured vehicles with these characteristics. The vehicles being manufactured by Mercedes with soon to come hydrogen-fueled will require the demanded number of stations to satisfy customers purchasing them. These franchise stations will be allocated with the necessary services for customers to quickly manage the technicalities and refuel their vehicles. The companies already utilizing this systematic is Tesla Inc. The stations Tesla has located throughout the globe allow customers with their vehicles stations which will refuel their battery cells. This is to collectively provide customers with similar conditions to charging
Rodriguez Santos 2 their fuel cells in different locations owned by separate companies that share similar interests. 4. Pick a business that you admire. What are the major trends emerging from an environmental analysis? What are the major areas of uncertainty? How would a major company in the industry handle these trends and uncertainties? How do you predict the start-up will respond? The Tesla’s Model 3, Mercedes HVO diesel fueled engines, and the electrical mass- produced Hyundai Ioniq, are the many businesses manufactured vehicles fuel cells that use oxygen from the air and compressed hydrogen to cause torque. With the many faulty technological features being developed causing harm to customers and the environment, such as pollution, are the major uncertainties to tackle to ultimately satisfy demand. A company that is admired yet continues to perform processes that may in the long-term harm the environment with their manufactured fuel cells. Tesla Inc. keeps track of all its manufactured vehicles and retrieves them when the batteries are near their life span of more than 100,000 miles. According to Oliver Bodemer in his ‘Comparative Analysis of Electric Cars and Diesel Cars Using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil’ mentions Mercedes- Benz’s sustainable HVO diesel, the Mercedes C 300d in contrast to Tesla’s Model 3 zero tail pipe emissions. Both have a drastic reduction of emission that could potentially harm the environment. Their allocation and use of chemicals to dispose or separate the battery components being used, may not be the considerable approach to achieve long term global CO2 reductions. The methods of pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, and direct shredding or physical separation of parts, are expensive to tear down with chemical component mixtures of lithium carbonate, sulfate, etc. The overall challenges of gathering the batteries to make them reusable or having companies like Redwood use Hydrometallurgical metal refining are becoming a global concern, which is being conditioned as new resource rehabilitations methods are being implemented. 5. Focusing on the airline industry, develop a list of strategic uncertainties and possible strategic actions. Spirit Airlines is one of the companies which has had the most incidents regarding server efficiency when delivering a flawless Hub for customers and employees to access services. With the uncertainties of technological processes crashing and rise in expenses for the satisfaction of newly required conditions, now days traffic overflow is prone to occur with more frequency. These factors make it difficult to fulfill the values which the company targets to service the customers with. Amid strategizing to maintain the values of the company, Spirit needs to continue improving the performance of their running servers and extend the capabilities of its 24/7 customer interfaces. Without the enough reliability of the company’s access to the customer’s continuous traveling specifications, demand will not achieve the desired results. This then causes customers to not rely on the services even though they maintain a low-cost value. 6. Visible criticism has been leveled at the bottled water industry including the claim that their product is not better than tap water in many locals (some brands are even said to have an unpleasant aftertaste) and that the plastic bottles are carbon costly to make and are not biodegradable. What programs would you consider combating
Rodriguez Santos 3 these arguments if you were PepsiCo, the maker of Aquafina, or The Coca-Cola Company, the maker of Dasani? In today’s growing economy we have seen many variant products from bottled water industries. This is a very sensitive matter since water pollution is such a complex matter, because of the endless ways in which bacteria or other contaminants may harm the water sources. For instance, in recent days tap water has been diagnosed with PFAS, disinfection byproducts, lead, radium, uranium, arsenic, and chromium. This was made public by a report made by the nonprofit organization Environmental Working Group. These contaminants are influencing companies to invest their revenue more carefully in equipment that guarantees the safety of the products. The company’s making somewhat more of a visible effort than the government due to the many chemicals that can access public facilities and public pipes that carry water from the water main under the street to residences. These pipes have been recognized as the primary contributor of lead in drinking water.
