Hello everyone, This was a new topic for me this week, I hadn’t head of the BOAT framework before. However, I thought it was interesting. The frame work is made up of four parts: B usiness, O rganization, A rchitecture, and T echnology ( BOAT ). The business part of the framework focuses on the e-business goal. Interaction with customers, business models, new markets, and why certain things exist are all covered in this section. The organization part lays out the structure of the organization, the business network level, the business functions and the business service. The architecture is the blueprint, taking into account automated systems support incorporated in the organization. Lastly, technology looks at the components within a networked e-business system. Things like languages, software, hardware and communication protocols. The organization aspect connects with the goals laid out in the business aspect. The systems that are defined by the organization aspect are also focused on by the architecture. How the automated systems support the involved organizations. The technology aspect covers the ingredients within the systems. Each one of the four aspects within the BOAT framework interacts and relies on another to function. Also each aspect relies on the previous one to focus on a specific task. Looking back last weeks dimensions topic, each dimension also spans the BOAT framework. The three dimensions give us a look at the outside of the e-business scenario. Whereas the BOAT framework describes the internal workings of the e-business. -Alex Grefen, P. (2016).
