Compare the narratives presented in your primary and secondary sources relevant to your historical event.
There is a common narrative among 3 out of the 4 sources I’ve selected and that is they are looking back researching the facts of the event. They have done concise research and have presented facts in reports, and exhibits in museums, and they have laid out the path to find great research points for different aspects of the massacre. Describe one narrative that has significantly influenced the contemporary understanding of your historical event.
I think the Race Riot Commission and their report gives the best layout of factual topic points to really break down, and understand the impact of the event, it discusses the economical side, it discusses the racial conflict, and within its 200 pages, it gives researchers an abundance of information to dive into for any particular aspect of the event. Explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical research question.
The narrative is a huge way to take in information, and you must be diligent about facts, and if you choose a narrative with too much bias you can often find yourself missing our misinterpreting facts. The narrative among my sources is from people, and groups who have little to no bias on the conflict itself and were able to gather facts on the event and the events surrounding the massacre in a professional, factual, and presentable way for future researchers
to learn from and build upon. With my research question having 2 parts, racial conflict and economic impact, the narratives I have chosen in my sources have given me an edge to avoid bias on both topics and have laid out pages and pages of information to work with while studying my topic.
