Good sleep: Having a good sleep/sleeping schedule is important for overall health because we humans need rest after using our body and mind all day, especially after a stressful day. Not sleeping enough can cause your body to break down and eventually give out due to the fact that it hasn't been properly rested. Our bodies work to maintain healthy brain function, our physical and mental health when sleeping. This is important to children and teens when growing up, as it helps growth and development. Not getting enough sleep can cause problems such as long term health problems, diseases, weight gain, and weaken the immune system. Healthy Diet A healthy diet is important for overall health because it’s what keeps us energized throughout our day and life. Having a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy can keep the human body in shape. Eating junk food everyday wouldn’t be an example of a healthy diet since there isn't much nutritional value to a person and in the food itself. Drinking water is a good example of a healthy diet, as it keeps people hydrated and regulates our internal temperature. Sugary drinks like soda aren’t healthy and can put humans at risk for diabetes and heart disease. Healthy Mental health Mental health is one of the most important aspects when it comes to overall health. It impacts our everyday lives, it plays a big part in everything we do, think and say. Not everyone will share the same mental health, since everyone lives different lives. Students would say that it is important when in school due to challenges, since it could affect their own education and wellbeing. Depression can really impact mental health, as it messes with people's thoughts and can really demotivate people into doing nothing and/or having a lack of interest in everything.
Physical activity Physical activity is important for overall health because being physical and exercising keeps people in shape. It’s what keeps the human body running so that we can stay active everyday. Participating in physical activity can improve quality of life, such as improving brain health, strengthen bones and muscles, and help manage weight/weight loss. Not being active or participating in physical activity can lead to heart disease, since people would look the same since no exercise is being done. Proper Hygiene Proper hygiene is one of the most important factors when it comes to overall health. It protects the human body from infectious diseases such as COVID-19, and can prevent bacteria from spreading. Doing things like brushing your teeth, washing your hands, and cleaning your body allows you to maintain your physical, emotional, and personal health. Once a person stops caring about these things, their other attributes start to fall apart as well, causing a collapse of their overall health.
