Whenever my family had a gathering my dad would always make guacamole for the whole family. Everyone who would eat it raved about how good it was. Before my Dad passed away he taught me how to make his iconic guacamole dish and now I want to teach it to you guys! I believe it is always essential when you are going to a friend gathering or to a family gathering that you bring good food with you and guacamole is the perfect food item to bring no matter the event. By the end of this video today my hope is that everyone watching will want to try my guacamole recipe. In 2009, Frank Bruni the author of Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater said “I suppose there are people who can pass up free guacamole, but they're either allergic to avocado or too joyless to live.” Guacamole is so delicious and I think it is not that hard to make, it's just a little time-consuming. Here are the ingredients that you'll need to make it. You'll need to start with 4 avocados, 2 Roma tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, a jalapeno, a jar of pickled jalapenos (for the juice), limes, salt, and pepper. You can get all these ingredients at your local grocery store. The appliances you'll need are a big bowl, a cutting board, a knife, and a fork. It is important to include all of the ingredients I listed because without them the end product won't taste as good. Now that we know what we need and where to get them, let's head to the kitchen! According to Angela Wang, an investigative data reporter in an article under Insider in 2019 stated, there were approximately 24 avocado-related injuries admitted to the hospital per day in the United States in 2018. People are getting injured when cutting avocados because they don't know how to do it so I am going to show you the proper way to cut an avocado and how not to hurt yourself. *show how to cut it*
Avocados aren't the only thing we are cutting today so it is important to stay safe while cutting the rest of our vegetables. It is important to stay safe in the kitchen no matter what. Hopefully, with my tips, you won't lose a finger! Now that we know how to cut everything let's mix it all together and mash! I have put everything we cut into our bowl but we still have some things to add. We’ll add our lime, salt, pepper, and jalapeno juice. Now that we're done with that let's grab our forks and start mashing. I think a simple fork is the best at mashing avocados. You have a good handle to hold onto and if you want to speed up the process you can use two, one for each hand. It is a tiring process so don't be afraid to take breaks. You can stop once it's creamy or stop when it's a little chunky it is all up to your preference. Now that we are done mashing, the bowl most likely looks a little messy. An article written in 2018 under Assaggio states that we have already tasted the food before we have put it in our mouth. We virtually taste our food when looking at it if it looks appetizing so that's why it is important to always have a clean presentation. The last steps can be tiring but the end product is worth it. Today we have learned what ingredients and appliances we need, How to prepare them safely, and then how to mash them and present them well. My dad's guacamole is the best guacamole that I have ever tasted and if anyone here tries it I hope they agree with me. Thank You
