In my research on the American Heart Association, I was surprised to discover the positive correlation between pet ownership and its impact on an individual’s heart health. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the companionship of pets is closely linked with improved overall health and well-being. This connection has been confirmed by a wealth of research studies, which suggest that pet owners tend to lead healthier lives. They are more likely to adopt a more active lifestyle, experience lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Which contributes to reduced stress levels both at home and at work especially when individuals are managing health challenges. The studies have shown the following (" Welcome to Best Friend Fridays , n.d.”):  The simple act of petting a dog helps decrease blood pressure.  Dogs help people feel less shy and isolated and improve social relationships.  Dog ownership is associated with a lower risk of depression.

 Two out of three employees say work stresses them out, and 40% say their job gets in the way of their health.  In a survey of pet owners, 44% responded that they would consider a career move for a pet-friendly workplace, and 37% would sacrifice vacation time and take a pay cut to be able to bring their pet to work.
