Mortuary Officer Resiliency Reflection Assignment
Prompt:
This assignment is meant to be a reflection for the Mortuary Officer of past (if applicable), present (this class), and future mortuary operations. The objective is to make you more aware of your team’s skillsets, resiliency toolboxes, and overall wellbeing. Consider the CAF pillars of resilience below and answer the following questions in accordance with the attached rubric. This assignment is worth 100 points and is due Friday morning at 0800. Please email your answers on a word document to anna.gault.1@us.af.mil
1)
Provide examples of at least 2 CAF pillars that may be affected, or that you may “draw upon” for support during a mortuary case. (ex. Physical – MO/MT team may be super busy with a case and lose out on sleep, exercise, and healthy eating. ~ OR ~ Spiritual – my weekly practice of yoga and mindfulness allows me to relax and focus on the mission and taking care of the decedent and their NOK in a methodical and respectful way):
2)
How can you build up your CAF pillars for both you and your Mort Team to be better prepared/equipped for a mortuary case? (When you aren’t working a case)
3)
How can you address immediate CAF concerns for you and your team during
a case? How would you go about communicating these concerns both within your team and to your leadership? 4)
How can your team care for and support additional parties (SCO, FAR, escort, etc.) involved in a mortuary case? 5)
What observations do you have for yourself AND your Mortuary Technician from this week’s PADD brief and subsequent exercises? Think distractions, real world experiences, emotions, briefing skills, knowledge levels etc. (ex. MT recently lost a loved one and was distraught during the AFMAO wrapping lesson ~ OR ~ MO was distracted by home station taskers/issues and it detracted from class ~ OR ~ MT has worked a case before and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful during PADD brief)
