As an accreditation organization ensuring that the hospital is well within the proper scope of practice is the main goal. “The Joint Commission is to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the
highest quality and value” (
The Joint Commission,2024
).
The Joint Commission goals are to provide the necessary tools to healthcare organizations to provide safe and high-level healthcare. A healthcare organization may allow things to fall through the cracks due to the increasing number of patients that they see all year around. Forgetting key steps can lead to delay in care, injury or even death.
Any of these issues arises and the hospital lose accreditation or negative reviews puts stakeholders and employees at risk. “We are committed to operating every part of our business in ways that are responsible and sustainable, while continuing to advance progress across the industry’s most pressing quality and safety challenges” (
The Joint Commission,2024
).
Stakeholders influence healthcare policy by listening to the concerns and the strategic plan for the new fiscal year. Ensuring that policies in place to protect the hospital, will protect the hospital from any liabilities. “Being involved in policy decision-
making would communicate the policy needs of their members and the communities they serve, helping hold those responsible for policy implementation” (Masefield et al., 2021)
