Pregnancy Nutrition Plan Nutrition is crucial because it affects pregnancy and a nutrition plan helps in informing pregnant mothers on the best diets, the different foods and the nutrients they provide, and the need for exercise. This information is quite helpful, especially for first-time mothers who have little knowledge about the consequences that may result from poor nutrition like anemia, low birth weight, still-birth, and death in mothers. The images presented have great resonance with food found in the market which makes it easier for pregnant mothers to make these purchases when they want and have knowledge about the specific quantities needed. Also, it teaches vital lessons on the foods they should avoid. The appropriate food intake is crucial for a healthy pregnancy. With the aid of a pregnancy diet chart, you will manage your healthy meals. During the second and third trimesters, a normal pregnant woman with an appropriate BMI and bodyweight must intake an additional 350Kcal per day and 500Kcal per day, respectively. Diet Chart A. Breakfast- The first meal is the most essential because you need the energy to kick start the day. Thus, it would help if you never missed this meal, and it should be nourishing and wholesome in both quantity and quality. Intake: 1 cup of low-fat milk and 1 bowl of veggie oats or 1 cup of low-fat milk and 1 fried egg sandwich. B. Midday Snack-It bridges the gap between the first meal and lunch whereby it might be four to six hours apart for most working women. This meal is meant to keep your hunger in check and balance the sugar levels; thus, it should be high in dietary fiber and proteins.
Intake: 1 cup of strained yogurt and a small bowl full of a mixture of chia seeds, dried fruits, and almond Or a creamy yogurt fruit salad C. Lunch- It is one of the two most important meals of the day. Skipping it will decrease sugar levels and energy, making you less productive in the workplace because you do not have the fortitude to push ahead. Intake: ½ Applewood smoked chicken and vegetable salads or glazed sesame salmon, sweet potato, and purple sprouting broccoli. D. Evening teatime-Lunch is often heavy, but you need something to end your hunger pangs. You eat something light to get you going. Intake: I cup of herbal tea and 1 bread roll with hummus or 1 slice of gingerbread and 1 cup of low-fat milk E. Dinner- The last meal of the day should be special, but it should be relaxing and soothing instead of being heavy. Also, it should be taken early, mostly a few hours before going to sleep, to reduce the chances of acid reflux and indigestion. Intake: 1 shredded chicken sandwich and veggies or 1 bowl of bean burrito and tofu Foods and Nutrients provided Vegetables fruits Dairy Grains proteins Mushrooms, peas, broccoli, spinach, carrots, Bananas, raisins, prunes, oranges, Apricots, Skim milk Low-fat milk Rice Cooked creals Beef, pork, dairy, eggs, whole sources of

cooked greens, peppers grapefruit yoghurt Oats Amaranth soy like miso and tofu, fish, sardines, salmon, trout, peas Vitamin A and Potassium Potassium Potassium, Vitamin A and Vitamin D Folic Acid and Iron Amino Acids Eating a nutritious diet is crucial for every human, but it is even more important for pregnant women as it aids in brain development healthy birth weight and reduces congenital disabilities risks. Also, the body needs more essential nutrients that it did not need before the pregnancy, but too much of any food supplement could be counterproductive, as shown by increased congenital disabilities experienced by individuals who take high levels of Vitamin A. Pregnant mothers are more likely to gain most of their nutrients from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and dairy products which means that they have to take a small percentage of each of them to ensure they are getting the necessary nutrition (Venter et al., 2022). The challenge lies in offering a balanced diet while considering the individual reactions to certain foods, preferences, the perfect combination, and the different moments that each meal should be taken. People need different amounts of energy throughout the day; thus, apportioning the foods in the best manner to ensure that the individuals make the most out of it is a challenging task (Gagnon et al., 2022). Also, it is hard to come up with a chart that fits the needs of all individuals while taking into account preferences and allergies towards certain foods.
The focus on nutrition teaches valuable lessons such as the importance of nutrients during pregnancy. There is a huge focus on gaining nutrients from whole foods, but vitamin supplements are essential in filling any gaps (Brassard et al., 2022). It is difficult to plan nutritious meals every day, but following a well-planned chart ensures appropriate intake of nutrients and energy throughout the day. Also, the intake of nutrients should be well balanced with an individual needs and weight. When a person has a normal weight before conception, a balanced diet will work for them, but one who is underweight might need nutrients that will help them add weight, while those who are overweight might focus on certain nutrients to reduce to an acceptable BMI ratio. People with an average weight are fit for conception because it poses no risk to their health or that of their unborn child. Further, fluid intake during pregnancy is essential as it keeps the body hydrated, provides needed nutrients, and performs all bodily functions. The body needs water to produce more blood, flush out wastes and toxins, carry nutrients, build new tissue, and form the amniotic fluid (Weiler et al, 2021). Also, some foods should be avoided during pregnancy like fish that might have a high amount of mercury like tuna, shark and swordfish, alcohol, too much caffeine drinks and foods containing germs causing foodborne illnesses like unpasteurized milk and foods made with the same milk, raw or undercooked seafood, meat and eggs, refrigerated meat, refrigerated smoked seafood and raw sprouts of any kind (Lawrence, 2022). This information is crucial to the poster as it determines the types of food to be included. Annotated Bibliography Brassard, D., Elvidge Munene, L. A., St Pierre, S., Guenther, P. Benefits Healthy eating during pregnancy The source looks at the health benefits of healthy eating for people which applies to pregnant women especially in the choice of foods like taking unsweetened milk and choosing plant-based proteins more often. Also, it argues that water should always be the number one beverage of choice. Women have long been in the dark about these requirements, but modern technology enables them to access this vital health info. However, it is the presence of different ethical authors that made me have trust in the website. Additionally, the website is well known for publishing credible works, especially science-related ones. But it is the methodology used that aligns with international standards of research that further cements my faith in the website. Gagnon, G., Carreau, A. M., Plante, A. S., Savard, C., Lemieux, S., Weisnagel, S. J., ... & Morisset, A. S. (2022). Dietary intakes in pregnant women with previous bariatric surgery.  Eating and Weight Disorders-Studies on Anorexia, Bulimia and Obesity , 1-9. Maintaining A Healthy Weight During Pregnancy One of the lessons from the source lies in the importance of nutrition in maintaining a healthy weight during pregnancy. Also, pregnancy-related weight gain could cause obesity in mothers after pregnancy, thus the need to maintain it. And, an individualized nutrition program is the best in maintaining a healthy weight. But it is the affiliation with a government organization that puts my trust in the website. Additionally, the authors' credentials, most of whom are specialists in this field, strengthen my faith in the work. The last point is the methodology used

in the article, whereby the data analysis follows well-defined research methods as evidenced in science journals. Weiler, H. A., Vanstone, C. A., Razaghi, M., Gharibeh, N., Patel, S., Wei, S. Q., & McNally, D. (2022). Disparities in vitamin D status of newborn infants from a diverse sociodemographic population in Montreal, Canada.  The Journal of Nutrition 152 (1), 255-268. Avoid malnutrition during pregnancy One of the lessons gained is that understanding a pregnant mother’s nutritional needs is crucial to enacting effective strategies to avoid malnutrition and adopt healthy dietary regimes. Additionally, there was an association between income and good nutrition. Data gained from the mothers showed a huge correlation between Vitamin D deficiency in kids and nutrient intake during pregnancy. But it’s the articles associated with a health publication website that makes it legit. Further, the authors are health professionals who have a great understanding of the content. And evidence gained from the research is quite credible, and it helps them make an informed decision. Venter, C., Palumbo, M. P., Glueck, D. H., Sauder, K. A., O'Mahony, L., Fleischer, D. M., ... & Dabelea, D. (2022). The maternal diet index in pregnancy is associated with offspring allergic diseases: the Healthy Start study. Allergy, 77(1), 162-172. Allergic causing foods during pregnancy The source showcased that certain foods caused allergies while others prevented them; thus, there is a need to focus on the positive ones like vegetables and yogurts in most meals. Additionally, maternal diet might affect a kid’s microbiome directly or indirectly, meaning that
the type of food ingested was crucial. The frequency of taking helpful food types increases their protective effect on child allergies; thus, they must be taken in larger quantities than the rest. Nonetheless, the authors’ credentials play a crucial role in selling the website as authentic. The authors are also associated with reputable government health organizations, which helps validate the website's authenticity. Lastly, the data gained aligns with previous studies' findings, thereby showcasing its reliability. Lawrence, R. A. (2022). Maternal nutrition and supplements for mother and infant. In Breastfeeding (pp. 247-277). Elsevier. Maternal nutrition and supplements for mother and infant The first lesson lies in the importance of nutrient supplementation for malnourished women. Also, it is necessary to continue prenatal vitamins postpartum as it gives the body the energy it needs. Proteins and vegetables are quite important for pregnant women as they provide the energy needed and the fibers. But it’s the author’s credentials as an author that make the website authentic. Its association with a science-related website makes it more believable. Further, its focus on needed nutrients in the pregnant woman’s body, such as proteins and calcium, aligns with other data obtained on the same topic.
