Sprague Instructor Nyla Wolfgang English 101 31 March 2024 Week 4 Assignment Example Writing the Body Paragraphs Thesis statement: As a powerful tool, music is key for the healing process , increasing productivity on responsibilities, and providing a way of releasing real displays of emotions, hence, it is an effective tool for one's own growth and mental and physical well-being. With the power to lower stress, increase levels of serotonin, and increase energy, music is a wonderful tool that offers a way to emotional wellness. Music is processed in the part of the brain called the amygdala, which is responsible for mood and emotions (Ensle, 2022). Music is one of the few things that does not matter if you just listen to it, have it on as background noise, or sing along with it. The brain matches music tempos. If fast music is played the heart speeds up, helping with energy. If music that has about 60 beats per minute is played, that helps lower stress levels, the brain syncs with the tempo of the music (Victor, 2023). Depending on the genre of music depends on how it affects stress, serotonin, and energy levels. Music can boost proactivity by improving studying, working, and good cleaning habits. According to the National University when music is played while studying both of the hemispheres in the brain are actively being used, and the information is stored in the memory (2017). Music can help you pay attention by stimulating your brain (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2022). Depending on the tasks depend on the type of music that is best suited for competition. For studying music from a video game or movie soundtrack. Depending on work fast passed music can come in handy. When cleaning putting on the favorite type of music, allows for it to get done quicker, because it seems enjoyable (Allure of Sound, N/A). Depending on studying, working on tasks, or cleaning music can boost the proactivity of brain functions, which boosts body functions.
Whether displaying love, facing difficult times, or showing intense rage, music is an honest way to express emotions. When it comes to expressing feelings of love from listening to music, it is because the brain produces the chemicals dopamine (feel good) and oxytocin (cuddle) which are two of the main chemicals for love (Kest, 2018). Love is a chemical reaction inside the brain that creates the feeling of love and certain music can trigger this emotion. Music from genres like punk, hardcore, emo, heavy metal, and screamo can help listeners control their anger (Fact Magazine, 2015). Music from these genres enhances the chemical formula for anger. After listening to some of this music the brain is calmed. When extreme episodes of sadness hit, depressing music genres (suicidal black metal, emo, nu-metal, and grunge) are generally there to express sadness. My favorite song to listen to when I get into one of these episodes is “Hold on Till May - acoustic” by Pierce the Veil. This song talks about the struggles of home life for a young girl and contemplating ending her own life. This song on repeat helps me get out of my funk. Music has the power to help show and express emotions of love, depression, and anger.
