2 The power of editing and the iterative writing process were two more aspects of writing that astonished me this semester. I used to regard writing as a linear process, finishing a first draft and making minor tweaks before declaring it completed. This class, however, has taught me that excellent writing sometimes needs numerous rounds of modification and polishing. I've learned that the first draft is just the starting point, and the actual labor is in revising and changing the material ( Lingard & Watling, 2021). I've learned the importance of rereading my work with a critical eye, recognizing places for development, and making required changes due to peer comments and teacher help. This iterative approach has helped me to improve my arguments, clarify my views, and refine my writing style. Furthermore, the class has stressed the significance of soliciting criticism and participating in constructive discourse with others. Sharing my work with peers and getting their feedback has given me great ideas and new perspectives that have helped me improve my writing. The collaborative nature of the writing process has taught me to be open to new ideas and to appreciate the opinions of others, resulting in a more polished and well-rounded final piece. Understanding the recursive nature of writing and the need for rewriting will help me in the future. It has ingrained in me the belief that writing is a lifelong activity rather than a one- time event (Lingard & Watling, 2021). I now approach writing assignments with an open mind to revising and refining, understanding that each iteration puts me closer to my goal. This approach will not only improve the quality of my work but will also instill resilience and flexibility in the face of adversity. Learning about the power of revision and the iterative nature of the writing process has been an excellent lesson in this class. It has taught me to see writing as a never-ending process of
3 progress and refinement. I can develop my writing, learn new views, and eventually create more captivating and compelling articles by embracing numerous rounds of rewriting, seeking criticism, and participating in constructive discourse. This insight will help me in the future by allowing me to approach writing tasks with a growth mentality and to strive for excellence at all times.
