Exemplification Essay: The Andrea Gail
Some people find storms rather relaxing and enjoy listening to it. Others might even enjoy being in
one. The same couldn't be said on the day of October 30, 1991 for 6 fishermen on a 72 foot long
long–liner called, The Andrea Gail, in North Atlantic Ocean in the middle of "The Perfect Storm".
"The Andrea Gail, in the language, was a raked–stem, hard chined, western–rig boat"
[outsideonline.com]. The six fishermen were David Sullivan, Robert Shatford, Dale Murphy,
Michael Moran, Alfred Pierre, and the captain, William Tyne. The Andrea Gail left Gloucester with
the six men to a swordfishing trip to the Grand Banks off Newfoundland on September twentieth
1991. "The men watched TV, cooked and ate, slept, prepared the fishing year, talked, talked

This town is squeezed between a rocky coast along with a big amount of scrub pine and boulders
called Dogtown Common. The jobs in this town are very limited, a 3rd of all jobs are fishing or
fishing related. Gloucester is very beautiful town and is an attraction to the people with the love to
fish and also for the sites.
When the storm hit The Andrea Gail, the boat was south of Nova Scotia. When the hurricane hit
them, "The Andrea Gail would have flipped end–over–end and landed hull up, exploding the
wheelhouse windows"[outsideonline.com]. The six men are in bad condition, they are now stuck in
the middle of the storm and unconscious in the flooded enclosures of the boat. The more time went
on, the more their conditions worsen. The 6 men either suffer from laryngospasm or completely
inundated lungs. It was reported that The Andrea Gail was dealing with 30–foot seas and 50–80 mile
winds, devastating coastal New England.
The Andrea Gail and her crew was supposed to return to its port by Saturday. She hasn't been heard
from since Thursday. It was reported to be at least 180 miles east–northeast from Canada's Stable
Island. The Coast Guard started searching for the vessel on November 4, 1991 and continued until
10 days later, the search was called off. Their families were

Exemplification Essay: Overcoming Obstacles
Clifton engaged in conversation with CM. Clifton mentions to CM that he received the wound a
week ago, while playing basketball and placed a band aid (adhesive bandage). Clifton stated, "It got
big and my home girl popped it and pus came out. She called her father who is a doctor, and he told
me to leave it open and get blood work done so I won't have my hand cut off". CM acknowledged
what Clifton conveyed, but he has no history of diabetes to cause the extreme of amputation.
However, the present color of the wound being green and yellow shows that he is an infection and
needs medical assistance. CM inquired if he cleaned the wound daily and change the adhesive
bandage. Clifton responded, "I change the band aide once". CM provided suggestions

Another minor dispute has escalated into yelling and screaming, throwing of objects and breaking of
hearts. Words that shouldn't be expressed between two loving people cause tears and feelings of
hatred, anger and disrespect. This is just one of many problems that could have been effortlessly
resolved before the mole hill grew to the size of Mt. Everest but of course walking away from the
situation isn't always the easiest thing to do. If she only turned her back away from the quarrel and
began her journey in the opposite direction she wouldn't be roaming the streets at 3 AM trying to

It must be a case of "tough love." What could their child have done to have lost all rights of having a
roof overhead and being kicked out with nothing more than a bag of clothes and a couple dollars for
either some phone calls or some food? Still there are some who barely receive that. Truthfully it's a
hard pill to swallow when the reality of these adolescents having nobody to turn to because of their
heartbreaking lifestyles sets in. Being sexually, emotionally or physically abused by someone close
to home isn't any fault of their own; neither is having a parent or guardian who is more focused on
their next hit rather than handling responsibilities they unconsciously took on the moment they
realized they were bringing a child into this world. However, these underage people, must learn to
survive on their own two feet. What other choices do they have? Going to the police and confiding
in them 100% is a exhausting task in its own. These are the men and women who took an oath and
vowed to protect and serve each community with their entire being, but are the same men and
women who come to the "ghetto" or to the "'hood" and harass and arrest innocent black men and
black women for standing on the corner too long. A case of mistaken identity, right? If these
youngings see this on a daily basis happening on the same streets they dwell on, is it somewhat
understandable why they fear the thought of having to approach those

Types of Irony Is it strange how love can be a source of happiness, but also cause a lot of pain? Yet
people tend to search for love, and once these people find love it comes with both pleasure and ache.
Irony plays a role in love because love is what people perceive as joy but also causes hurt, yet
people still search for love. In Kate Chopin's Story of an Hour, there are different forms of literary,
situational, and dramatic irony used. The first type of irony which Kate Chopin uses is literary irony.
Literary irony is expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite.
In The Story of an Hour, Louise says that her husband Brently is

In the end of The Story of an Hour, Louise walks down stairs to see that Brently is actually alive
which causes Louise to fall into severe devastation and die. The last type of irony used in The Story
of an Hour is dramatic irony. Dramatic irony occurs when the meaning of the situation is understood
by the audience but not by the characters in the play. When the doctor in the story says, "She had
died of heart disease, of a joy that kills." The characters in the story, Josephine and Richards, think
Louise died out of joy when Brently is actually found to be alive rather than dead. This realization
causes Louise to fall into desolation and die because now she cannot live her life freely. Dramatic
irony also occurs when Josephine thinks Louise is sick in her room when she is really experiencing
joy. This falls under dramatic irony because Josephine thinks Louise is becoming sick due to
Brently's death, but the audience reading the story know that Louise is actually full of joy. In The
Story of an Hour, Kate Chopin uses these different types of literary, situational, and dramatic irony
in her story. Irony is the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning,
but there are also other types of irony such as situational which is situation in which actions have an
effect that is opposite from what was intended. On the other hand, dramatic irony is

Exemplification Essay: The Immigration Process
You've probably heard the argument line "Why don't they just go back to their country?" or "Why
don't they just come here legally?" It isn't that simple and most importantly, it is an ignorant opinion.
When you say "Go back to your country", it's a lot more complicated than what your brain can
handle. An issue that's talked about a lot in our current news it the immigration crisis. The
immigration process is complicated, especially in the US.

Asking someone if they are ready for college can be intimidating. Questions can begin as soon as
one starts senior year. Some will say that it feels like a race to get everything done because there is
constant pressure of hearing what others are doing. The decision on whether to go to college or not
is a personal decision. Also, applying for college can be tedious work. Becoming educated on the
process can help tremendously. It helps a lot to find someone that has been through it; there are
hidden secrets that few know about. As long as one is carefully completing the process, asking
questions, and making wise decisions, deciding to attend and apply to college can be easy. Is college
really worth it? Now–a–days, it seems that if someone does

A positive aspect of going to college is that most employers, when hiring, will put those with a
college degree at the top. It does not mean that those with a degree are better, but it shows an
employer that a person has worked hard and can accomplish goals, which are what most are looking
for. In an article by Hansen, she states that "The lifetime income of families headed by individuals
with a bachelor's degree will be about $1.6 million more than the incomes of families headed by
those with a high–school diploma, according to the Postsecondary Education Opportunity Research
Letter" (Hansen). That amount of money can make a difference when a person begins a family.
Applying to College If one makes the decision to attend college, they are many steps to consider
when beginning the process. Often times, steps are left out when someone explains what needs to
happen. To some, this process does not need to be rushed. However, some believe that it needs to
take place as soon as possible. The first step is deciding on a school. There are many schools out
there to choose from, so a list of everything a student wants is ideal; it will make narrowing down
easier. The ideal time to being touring schools is the summer before one's senior year. Touring
schools, looking at requirements, and making sure the desired major is offered should be taken into
consideration first. It is also a good idea to find a couple schools that one is interested in to allow
variety when making a final

We have based the very existence of our country on the belief that complete separation of church
and state is best for the church and is best for the state. However, throughout history the roles
between religion and American public life remain interwoven and continue to shape our beliefs and
values.
In order to begin to understand the role of religion in American public life, one must first recognize
that religion is present in many aspects of one's life. Even though the United States' Constitution
provides for separation of religion and government, most aspects of government include religion as
a basis for its operating procedures. The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives begin each
session with prayer. Another example of the

Student attendance was voluntary. Some people thought it was wrong for the principal to allow the
students to hold the assembly and to actively participate in it as well; they believed that this was
violating the law. However, having this assembly at school changed many students' outlook on life
(Biema). Inviting other religious leaders to explain their beliefs might also have been beneficial. As
a nation whose motto is, "In God We Trust," public schools should welcome the opportunity of
teaching different religions in healthy and wholesome ways without fear of violating the First
Amendment.
Members of the Religious Liberty, Public Education, and the Future of American Democracy
developed six categories explaining what they thought were some conflicts between religion and
education. Their statements were based on the First Amendment. One of these categories suggests
that public schools should not try to force religion, but schools should not punish those who wish to
pray at school either. Schools need to treat an individual with respect and honor their religious
beliefs ("StatementsÉ").
Students in public schools have the right to say grace before a meal and to read Scriptures from The
Bible or read from other religious sources. The students can also try to persuade their peers about
religious activities, but school officials must intervene if the conversation becomes harassment. It is

Exemplification Essay: Is College Worth It?
Is college worth it? That is, is college worth all the debt and stress that it brings? Americans with
four–year college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a
degree. While college is undeniably expensive, stressful, and at times frightening, college is
absolutely worth going to. Getting a higher education
, going to college
, is important because it gives
students an opportunity for a better future, one can gain valuable resources, such as important
connections with people, and going to college will most likely give you important work skills. Most
people in different parts of the world would die for a chance to have a better future for themselves
and for their families. One such example would be my parents.

Let's just say that in the future you are applying for a very remarkable, high–level job. Certainly you
can get the job on your own, but what if the CEO of that specific company is good friends with one
of the professors to whom you got very close with during the years that you spent at that college.
Maybe that One professor can influence the CEO to give you a shot at the job you applied for. You
see? What harm did that do? All that professor could have done was make sure the CEO knew that
you were going to be competent at the job you had applied for. While obviously you were perfectly
capable of getting the job completely on your own, some extra help was very greatly appreciated. At
college, most everyone makes friends. Special connections with people that you will have for the
rest of your life. In high school everyone, or at least a lot of people, have friends. You will always
have your high school friends, but I am convinced people get closer to college friends because you
go through the most life changing things with them. However, connections are not important only
for getting a job or for making friends. Some day you might need some advice, on your life. Maybe
advice about your family, or maybe advice about your job. It will always be nice to know someone,
perhaps a professor or a friend, who will be there for you through no matter what is happening in

My Definition of Success Essay example
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."
– Albert Einstein ––
My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you) what
kind of car your drove or how big your house was when you're on your deathbed. Your thoughts will
not be about your job, the office or how much money you made.
Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that
challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. A rich, eventful and challenging life doing
what you enjoy and positively affecting others seems to me to be just about right. Find a job you
love and you'll never work another day in your life. I know I won't. In my

Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having
regrets is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very
important, and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and
keeps life interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the
amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I
grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination.
They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the
$55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company,
moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they
managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most
things is practiced, things won't spin out of control.
Bottom line rules for a successful life:
Always try new things.
Listen twice as much as you talk.
Travel as much as you can comfortably afford.
Faith and family always come first –

Exemplification Essay: The Stereotypes Of Women
Our generation is naturally living in the fast–lane. This generation has been brainwashed by TV
shows, magazines , music videos and Etc. Most men treat women like crap, because of what rappers
have said, but those same rappers are the ones that are married or has had a girlfriend for years.
Example: Jay Z constantly speaks bad about women, but has been with the same woman for 15
years. Guys are getting the rap life confused with real life!
We have women who will show every ounce of their body for a check and than wonder why they
don't get any respect! Yes, sex sells, but women have so much more to offer.
One last thing, is there really a difference between a friend calling a woman a bad bi*ch and a guy
calling a woman a bi*ch?
No, There's

Lawrence Fairbanks was a respected, well–liked university official. But he had a bad habit of buying

This third recap took place before bed. AD finally was feeling better after having the flu and strep
throat. This was her first day back to school and then the babysitters after school. Over the weekend
she had spent her own money she had earned from doing chores around the house to buy a small
stuffed bunny rabbit. AD had taken the rabbit with her in her book bag to school in the morning so
that she could have it at the babysitters when she got out of school. After multiple warnings from her
father about not taking it because she will leave it at the babysitters, AD insisted on taking it. Just as

Why Do Kids Have The Better Deal
Kids have the better deal. One reason is they can get away with things like not cleaning their room,
an example would be that a child is told to clean his room and he says he's still playing with his
toys, so his parents might say, well just make your bed then. Another reason is children have very
little responsbilities, like school
, homework, chores and taking care of their pet if they have one,
most children get paid for their chores and grades, an example would be a kid gets all B's and one A,
his parents might give him $20, or however many they give him or just $1 for every A or B. The
final reason is children get to play all the time, and they get to take care of pets and sleep in, an
example would be, a child asks his parents for 2 chinchillas

Exemplification Essay: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The one who falls and gets up is much stronger than the one who never fell. Not fighting for what
you believe in and giving up could be very fatal, for it builds up hardihood and fortitude; in addition,
it corrects all the people who doubted you. First and foremost, too many people are too timid to go
through all the trouble and pain to achieve past their limits; however, one act of bravery could make
a person's courage ascend to the sky. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. always had a dream about
slavery being demolished; therefore, he worked tirelessly and accomplished his goals. Many people
today are living freely because of his courageous and dauntless act of believing in something and
fighting for making it a reality.

Exemplification Essay: A Fictional Narrative
A century ago, Toronto was very different than it is today. One of the differences being that Alan
Talon was about to release the first ever moving picture with sound on May 16 1908. But on what
was supposed to be the most esteemed event in all of Canada, a tragedy occurred. As dozens of
elegantly dressed women and men found their way to the velvet seats in the theatre, among them
were a detective by the name of Timothy Lance, Doctor Samantha Wilfrid, Inspector Steven Louis,
and Chief Constable Craig Will. They were an accomplished group of people who worked at Police
Station #2 and were invited by Alan Talon as his personal guests. When everyone found their
assigned seats, Alan Talon, the successful inventor himself came onto the stage. "Good evening

was seated in Detective Lance's office waiting to be interrogated. "Good evening, Mr. Edison,"
welcomed the detective as he walked into the office. "May I ask, what is the meaning of this childish
nonsense?" asked Thomas hotly. "It has to do with the murder of Mr. Lawrence," replied Lance
trying to maintain his decorum over Mr. Edison's impropriety. "I already told you, I didn't kill him,"
Mr. Edison said. "Then why was your gun found at the crime scene?" inquired the detective, pulling
the evidence out of his drawer and placing it on the desk. "Anyone could have stolen my gun and
placed it there," answered Thomas looking at his
