Introduction
It is important to know that when it comes to the cross-cultural environment it is more about how we trigger the communication process and how we react to their cultures and beliefs. Therefore, this is where one puts into practice the values learned since childhood to know how to treat all the people around us with dignity and respect, which at the same time benefits us as a human being since we learn to accept all people without discrimination some. In assignment, I will be presenting the results of a CQ assessment which puts into perspective who I am and how I respond or act to the cross-cultural environment.
My Scores on 4 Factors
CQ Strategy- As for the CQ Strategy, I got a 28 and I can agree with this score since in my years of experiences in the armed forces I have learned to adapt to so many cultures as well as interact with people from different countries, which makes me more of a person diverse not only because of these characteristics but because I am more open to learning about other cultures which I keep in my memories since many times these opportunities do not occur. According to Earley & Mosakowski (2004),
“The analyst methodically deciphers a foreign culture’s rules and expectations by resorting to a variety of elaborate learning strategies” (p.143). I can say that at first everything is a little difficult to adapt since one enters an unknown place but what I have always taken into consideration is that from each new place or culture one always learns something new and at the same time I see it as a knowledge to share, whether with friends or family. Basically, this CQ strategy reflects my high performance since my adaptation process today is more open to the world with the curiosity to learn more about that culture at the same time respecting its ideals in moments of conversation.
CQ Knowledge- In this CQ I got a 7. I think it is normal for a person's knowledge since one does not know
about something until one seeks the correct information about that specific culture and how it is

manifested in our society. In general, I think that one learns when one has the interest in doing so, which learning about cultures is a little more difficult and many times we have problems with our own culture since we live in such modern times that it continues to change. Like everything, it is a process of adaptation but rather in the field of knowledge there is more interest in exploring new things to have more extensive knowledge than usual.
CQ Motivation- In this CQ I got 33. Just like in the CQ Strategy, basically this is a process of adaptation and how you see things around you. The experiences I have gained in the armed forces by visiting other places have made me understand that we are all the same but with different thoughts and ideals. On the other hand, once again, one adapts to the lifestyle if one has the interest since the law of life adapts to live and work to survive. I also attribute motivation to this, since it is extremely important to show said motivation to understand and accept what we have around us to continue developing both personally and professionally.
CQ Behavior- In this CQ I got 29. I think it is important as a person to always maintain composure and at the same time respect the opinions and beliefs of others if we want the same for our own culture. Although it may seem difficult, it is again an adaptation process that we must all commit to also feel the same affection about what other people in our culture think. Many times, our actions could hurt the feelings of another without us realizing it since we think that since that behavior is accepted in ours, we think it is the same in others. On the other hand, it is important to always keep control of our emotions and to obtain a 29 if I can say that I can handle this area in a professional and safe way.
My Strengths and Weaknesses
When it comes to strengths and weaknesses it is more how one reacts to others. As for strengths, I can mention that I am a person who respects and listens to other cultures since I would like other people to respect my culture too. I see this process as an exchange although one always remains committed to

doing good and respecting our surroundings. As for weakness, I can mention the adaptation process only at the beginning since it is normal for one to feel alone in an unknown culture where one does not know how to defend oneself. An important point to mention is that all of this depends on how one is like as a person and what initiative one takes to learn about that culture and at the same time how the communication process is effective on both sides.
Lessons Learned
According to Hammer, Bennett, & Wiseman (2003), “Integration of cultural difference is the state in which one’s experience of self is expanded to include the movement in and out of different cultural worldviews” (p.425). Something very important to learn is that you never know who you are going to interact with and what culture you are going to face. It is important that one learns to listen to and respect the opinions of those around us so that they do the same towards us. On the other hand, the more motivated we are to learn about a new culture, the greater the knowledge we will be able to obtain, which at the same time does not serve as life lessons to share with friends and family who are not familiar with other cultures.
Conclusion
For some people, adapting could be difficult, but the most important thing is to never give up and try to learn as much as you can if you respect the cultures and ideals of those around us. Many times, everything depends on the interest that the person has in learning about another culture and at the same time adapting to it. Finally, life is a school since you never know who you interact or work with, the
important thing is to learn to have experiences to tell in the future.
