In the scenario, Jane arrived at work, observed the polarization of emotional responses within the employees, and realized it was a result of a new work policy. The first thing she needs to do is have a conversation with Larry, who initiated this new policy (Rakowski).
As an INFJ, my goal is to provide a positive impact and find practical solutions to problems (INFJ Communication Skills). I would begin the conversation with Larry as a fact finding mission. I would greet him and begin discussing that I saw the new bonus plan. I would then ask what influenced his decision to
format the bonus plan in this fashion. I would acknowledge Larry’s point of view and establish an understanding that the ultimate goal is to increase sales. Once we’ve established the foundation, I would then relay how I’ve interpreted the staff’s reactions and the drawbacks to this new policy. I would
then suggest having a brainstorming session to determine how we can more positively encourage all staff. I would attempt to have Larry still maintain as much ownership as possible so he did not feel threatened or stifled in his position. Citations. INFJ Communication Skills. (n.d.).
