TASK:
Consider a current problem related to your program of study. This problem should be specific and focused; it does not have to be ‘solvable,’ but it should be something for which you can suggest at least one reasonable change
to improve the problem. Your goal for this assignment is to learn about your selected issue that you will write about in your upcoming ‘Writing for Change’ letter. You can determine a topic by considering:
an issue you have discussed in one of your program classes,
an issue discussed in one of your program textbooks,
an issue identified by the Seneca LibGuides for your specific program, or
the list of suggested hot topics on Blackboard under our Assignments tab. Your first step in the writing process is gathering source material. For this research assignment, you will compile three sources. This activity will provide you with foundational research for your
upcoming letter. To finish this assignment, you must complete the following steps:

Identify your research focus (a problem related to your current program of study) and your recipient (the person you believe is most able to make a real change regarding your selected problem—it must be a real person

source that provides you with key information about your letter’s recipient. Find TWO
sources related to your hot topic issue. All sources you select must be reliable

Climate changes are increasingly affecting Canada’s natural environment, economic sectors, and the health of Canadians. Extreme weather events are a vital concern for Canada, and there is growing confidence that some types of extreme events will increase in frequency and intensity as the climate continues to warm. The infrastructure in Canada is constructed according to a specific temperature; if the environment changes drastically, it would affect this infrastructure and damage it. In addition, the northern part of Canada would face a warm environment that would melt the ice, thus disrupting the access to ice roads. Several measures
should be taken to mitigate these climate changes and prevent further damage to the ecosystem.
Nonstop action will help to build capacity, address information needs and overcome
challenges. Adaptation can sometimes turn risks into opportunities and opportunities into benefits. Governments and industries should increasingly pursue collaboration and adaptive management approaches to advance transformation.
