Narrative The scope of this project covers the impact of generative AI on cybersecurity, examining both the positive contributions it provides and potential challenges it causes. The key concepts include generative AI, cybersecurity, offensive strategies, defensive strategies, security threats, and ethical considerations. Several tasks need to be completed in order to reach the goals of the project: 1. Conducting research to gather academic papers, industry reports, and case studies that discuss the topic. 2. Analyzing these sources to find key information and to understand the implications generative AI will have on digital security. 3. Identifying key concepts used throughout the project. 4. Evaluate the effectiveness generative AI has on enhancing threat detection, automating defensive measures, combating cyber threats, as well as causing them. 5. Examining the ethical and legal implications of using generative AI-powered technologies. 6. Considering the future of digital security once the widespread adoption of generative AI happens. The scope of this project focuses on a specific aspect of the digital security world, which is generative AI’s impact on it. It focuses on generative AI’s impact on the digital security landscape, including covering offensive and defensive uses, as well as ethical and legal
aspects. The scope is appropriate because it is not so broad as to cover cybersecurity as a whole, or too narrow to focus on a specific technology or element of cybersecurity. Key concepts include: 1. Generative AI: This concept refers to artificial intelligence that has the ability to generate new content and perform tasks based on existing data patterns. 2. Cybersecurity. This refers to the measures used to protect digital assets, including data, networks, and systems, from cyber attacks and other threats. Digital security is a subset of this, a term interchangeable with information security and referring to protecting data. 3. Emerging trends. This concept refers to new developments in AI technology and its potential impact on cybersecurity. 4. Legal and ethical concerns. This pertains to the moral implications of using AI in cybersecurity and the laws and regulations that govern its use. Information sources for this project include scholarly journals, academic databases, industry reports, and articles from reputable news sources. This will provide a diverse range of perspectives into the subject. Academic journals like IEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security and the Journal of Cybersecurity from Oxford University Press have peer- reviewed research papers on the subject. Journals like Computer Law & Security Review from Elsevier LTD. have articles that discuss the legal and ethical side of cybersecurity.
