A learning objective is not just for what the teacher is going to cover in the classroom. Having learning objectives is what the teacher wants the students to be able to achieve (Admin, n.d.). If the teacher does not know what the end goal will get lost along the way. Before the teacher begins writing objectives, they must stop and think about the types of change the teacher wants their teaching to make. What does the teacher want the students to do differently when they come back to school? The teachers are to use different domains for learning that can be categorized by affective (attitude), psychomotor (skills), and cognitive (knowledge) (Admin, n.d.). After the teacher has identified the domain for learning. The teacher needs to focus on the objective. The teacher is to use a verb that will describe the behavior at the appropriate time of learning (Admin, n.d.). The teacher is to avoid having more than one action verb for each level of learning and the teacher is to make sure the verb can be measured (Admin, n.d.). Having a well-designed lesson objective will serve as the foundation for effective teaching and meaningful learning (Admin, n.d.). Having effective learning objectives helps to communicate what the students specifically can do. A teacher can determine the learning objectives that have been written effectively by if the objectives are observable and measurable (Zhou, 2022). The learning objective will align with the state standards (Student Success Center, n.d.) and it will include the domain sentence starter, action verb, context, and measurement (Student Success Center, n.d.). The teachers displaying the learning objectives to the students set the students expectations, guide the student learning process, and help them focus their study on what they are learning (Importance of Learning Objectives | Medical College, n.d.). Teachers using learning objectives is essential for effective teaching. Learning objectives help to express what the students should be able to do from the instruction being taught (O’Clair, 2017).

Teachers using learning objectives is essential for effective learning. Learning objectives help to express what the students should be able to do from the instruction being taught (Sharing Objectives | Principles of Assessment for Learning, n.d.). A teacher can communicate learning objectives to a student by writing the objectives into a more student friendly language (Sharing Objectives | Principles of Assessment for Learning, n.d.). Teacher can talk about the learning objectives before they start to teach the lessons. The teacher can point to the words on the board where they write the objectives. The teacher can have discussions about what the students know about the objectives (KWL - the Teacher Toolkit, n.d.). What they want to learn about the objectives. At the end of the lesson the teacher can talk with the students about what they have learned about the discussion. References Importance of Learning Objectives | Medical College. (n.d.).
