When teachers are communicating with parents teachers are to use the sandwich communication method (Feedback Strategies: The Pros and Cons of the Sandwich Approach-Findlay Online, n.d.). When talking with the parents’ teachers are to use two positives, then a negative and then place the negative with another positive. Teachers are to always have open communication with the parents to have parent involvement (Building Parent-Teacher Relationships | Reading Rockets, n.d.). Teachers are to have contact with their students’ parents, the teachers can learn more about the students’ needs and their home environment (Building Parent-Teacher Relationships | Reading Rockets, n.d.). When the teacher knows about the students the more the teacher can meet the students needs in the classroom (Building Parent-Teacher Relationships |
Reading Rockets, n.d.).
Teachers are never to focus on negatives at conferences. They can point them out. Then they talk about how the parent and teachers can improve them. Staying stuck on the negative leaves the parents and teachers not on a good note. Teachers are to make sure they are balancing their communication with the
parents.
