Prior to this course, I didn't know anything about the concepts of emotional intelligence and this course has been very enlightening. This EI course taught me a lot about how to understand, and control my emotions in constructive ways to  communicate effectively, and overcome problems, both in my personal life and in college. Awareness of emotional intelligence has also aided me in developing excellent relationships with others since I've learned how to better understand people by putting myself in their shoes. It has also aided me in making sensible decisions on matters that are critical to achieving my desired goals and advancing my current and even future aspirations. Most importantly, the insight I gained about my MBTI personality has helped me to learn more about my myself and others more. This priceless knowledge has also  aided me in recognizing my strengths and weaknesses, understanding my emotions better, and avoiding conflicts. NVC (nonviolent communication) and the SWOT analysis are two tools I've been privileged to learn in this course that has had a significant influence on my life for good. Nonviolent communication (NVC) is a nonviolent communication strategy based on nonviolence principles that encourages individuals to empathize with themselves as well as others by communicating using a four-step process of observation, identification of feelings, identification of needs, and making requests (Scotch, 2020). It is basically a paradigm for increasing empathy and improving the quality of life of those who utilize it and those around them. Learning about nonviolent communication has given me a better grasp of how to interact effectively with others which has in-turn improved by communication skills greatly. The NVC approach has also assisted me in managing my rage, increasing my self-compassion, and understanding how to convey my emotions. Moving forward, I will continue to I'll use my expertise on NVC to communicate with my peers to complete assignments in groups, which will also allow me to successfully evaluate myself in areas such as communication, efficiency, and other factors that will be needed in the working world to succeed. I will also continue to practice nonviolent communication in the future by being discerning and vigilant, recognizing/paying attention to other's needs as well as mine, and cultivating good interpersonal relationships. SMART is a very powerful tool that helps in achieving one's objectives by pushing you to establish your goals and set a deadline for completing them; while providing you drive and motivation (Mind Tools, 2016). SMART is a term that can be utilized to aid your goal-setting; which stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time bound. To ensure that your objectives are clear and attainable, each one should be:                                               Specific [simple, sensible, and significant], Measurable [meaningful and motivating], Achievable [agreed and attainable], Relevant [reasonable, realistic and results-based], and Time bound [time- based and time-sensitive] (Mind Tools, 2016). The SMART goal analysis I was able to learn about provided me with a clear picture of goal- setting overall. The SMART goals analysis also educated me on how to stay on track with my objectives and how to prioritize them. By making my objectives clear, quantifiable, and
achievable, I will be able to organize and organize them. Moving forward, I will utilize the SMART tool to organize my activities so as to set and achieve effective goals and objectives. I will undoubtedly apply what I have learned in each section of this course to develop myself and boost my chance of succeeding in life, and I will utilize each of them to successfully deal with and connect with people. I'll also utilize it to solve challenging problems that might arise in the future, as well as to convey and understand my own and others' emotions and opinions. References: Scotch. (2020).
