Nearly half of the world's population. 4) What devices are the primary ways most people interact with social media? Smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc. are all primary devices people use to interact with social media 5) What the 3 traditional (older) ways of sharing content such as news and events? Newspaper, fax, television, and radio. 6) What makes Digital Media in Social Media different than other forms of messaging in the past?
Digital media in social media allows messages to be sent and received immediately from people all over the world, as well as accessible 24/7 from various devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. 7) What are some of the main benefits to using social media? Some of the benefits of using social media are connecting people, companies, groups, education, and business. 8) What are some of the main disadvantages to using social media? Social media wastes a lot of time and can be quite addictive. 9) Used correctly Digital Media in Social Media can be very beneficial share some examples that you have experienced. I have used social media to help me with schoolwork for example when I can’t figure out how to solve a math problem, I can look up videos to help me. 10) How has social media/digital media affected possible scams? It can lead to many types of sophisticated scams, such as deep fakes, phishing, identity theft, etc. 11) What is misinformation and how as social/digital media made it more difficult to distinguish? Misinformation is false or inaccurate information. Social and digital media have made misinformation more difficult to distinguish, as anyone with a social media account can become a “news” source. For individuals posting news, the goal is almost always to get likes from as many people as possible, so the best choice is to spread something eye-catching, weather it is true or false. 12) How can you help “control” the amount of Digital Media content in Social Media?
The best method would be self-discipline. You can do this by establishing time limits for social media use. Many devices and social media platforms offer features that allow you to set daily usage limits. 13) What is the slogan you need to remember regarding most things as it relates to scams and social media? The slogan to remember regarding scams and social media is Be PROACTIVE! 14) How is social/digital media used to get your private information? Many social media apps collect and share users' location data. This information can be exploited to obtain your personal information. Another method is that some apps and social media platforms request extensive permissions to access personal information. For example, third-party cookies. 15) What best practices can you use to protect yourself? You can be pro-active.
