Where does classroom management fit into the framework? Classroom management can be a component of all 4 domains of the framework. It especially fits into Domain 2, the Classroom Environment. Classroom management is a huge factor of the classroom culture, procedures, managing student behavior and the environment the teacher establishes. Classroom includes managing and organizing the physical space of the classroom. 2.
What are the expectations for the proficient level of performance for a teacher? The expectations for the proficient level of performance for a teacher when it comes to classroom management would be that the teachers and students interact in a friendly way with care and respect. Proficient teachers should also establish a classroom environment with high expectations for hard work and learning, and interactions should support these expectations. There should be little loss of instructional time because there should be effective routines and procedures. Proficient level performance should include monitoring student behavior and keep consistent responses to misbehavior. They are also expected to maintain a safe learning environment and a classroom arrangement that supports learning goals. 3.
What does this mean for you in your classroom? This will help me in my ability to manage my classroom and to set standards for myself on what need to be done in my classroom to have proficient or better classroom management. I believe classroom management is one of the biggest factors that affects a st
udent’s ability to learn and retain information, as well as their ability to enjoy learning. I think back to classrooms I have been in, and the different classroom management styles and I was to be like those who best assisted my learning. This also means that my behavior as a teacher must be consistent and hold my students to behavior standards that will allow not only other students to learn but also themselves.
