Communication During a Disagreement Written Assignment
I had a disagreement with a coworker while working on a project at my previous company. The topic of the disagreement was a clash of personal values and opinions.
We were both working on a project where we had to create an Android application for a client. Our manager instructed us to divide our work evenly based on the team's skill set. The disagreement arose during work distribution because my coworker was unwilling to take on an equal share of the tasks. He stated that he would only accept one task.
When a disagreement arose between us, I chose the path of negotiation. I did not try to compromise, but rather to create a win-win situation in which both of us could agree on a point. I
persuaded him to take on a few more documentation tasks so that the workload could be distributed evenly. After some logical argument, he understood and agreed.
We did not cut off communication because it was a healthy work-related disagreement that was not personal.
