During the Literacy Activities, you will be completing this graphic organizer. You will continue to learn methods to assess, organize, and utilize evidence-based instruction to help all students learn. You are also learning to highlight aspects of reading and writing instruction in ways to help you become more proficient in assessment and instruction. Your goal is to have all columns completely addressed with samples and definitions. Please follow these directions

Word Study
A technique for instructing students on looking for and comprehending word patterns. In comparison to learning by memorization of conventional spelling lists, it enables kids to apply their knowledge to a
wider range of words and to concentrate on patterns and meaning chunks.

After a week of studying words give a student a spelling test to see what they have learned.

Word Sorting Activities-
Sound and Pattern Sort- this sort gets more detailed than just a sound or pattern sort for sorts where words may contain the same patterns but make different
sounds. 2.
Word study notebooks- A way to encourage students to think deeply about the words on their word lists.

Hunting: They search for pattern-related words in their reading and writing.
2. Word Walls:
Creating visual displays of pattern examples.
These will help students understand word patterns.
