Milestone One Audience I chose the All Paws Shelter for my assignment because I am the owner of two adorable kittens I rescued from a shelter recently. I also lived in Florida for three years, I was there for Hurricane Irma so I understand the impact hurricanes can have on local businesses. All Paws Shelter is an animal shelter in Souther Florida who is planning an event to help recover from damages of a recent hurricane. My suggestion for a target audience would be local retirees. Florida is a popular retiree state. Many older people move there away from family at the end of their work careers. These are the perfect group of people looking for companionship. It is important to identify a specific audience who support the foundational goals of the organization. (Andorsky, 2018). Project Goals The project is going to have to be low budget because of the current situation and limited planning. Before you can even identify your target audience, you need to identify your goals. (Andorsky, 2018). They have less than 30 days to get everything into place. Social media is a powerful tool that is of low cost to the shelter. This will open several avenues for donations as fundraising will be done online and in person. (Araize, n.d.). Assess Message Content Seek out sponsors or local businesses who would be interested in joining the cause. Identify the purpose and severity of the event. Assess Delivery Method Photos and videos showing the damage and the loss caused by the hurricane.
Focus on delivery methods that are affordable and within budget. Andorsky, N. (2018, May 4th). Identifying Your Nonprofits Target Audience.
