ED213 Motor Skill Ch7 Motor Skill to Teach Gross Motor skills - Simon Says Goal: create one overall, broad goal that you want children to do regarding fine or gross motor development. A broad goal that I want with this activity and children to do regarding their gross motor is to get used to commands and using different motor skills like waving their hands or moving their legs. Objectives: create smaller, more specific, behavioral targets that children will do on their way to achieve the overall goal. The children will be able to learn how to use their gross motor skills by playing Simon says. Have the children become aware of their body and its movements Also to be alert and aware when the movements change The children will be able to follow the directions and use their motor skills to follow the directions. Procedure: task analyze the activity by breaking it down into smaller teachable steps. Show the movements to the children and have them follow the movements Explain to them what Simon says is. Explain to the children that they have to have their listening ears on and pay attention to what I say. Explain that if they do a movement when I did not say Simon Says they will have to sit back down. Have the children copy the movements and then try it on their own.
