Chocolate Cake Yield: 16 slices Cake Ingredients 350 g Sugar 65 g Cocoa Powder 250 g AP Flour 9g Baking Soda 10 g Baking Powder 5 g Salt 178 mL Canola Oil 10 mL Vanilla 2 Eggs 250 mL Buttermilk 125 mL Coffee Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk oil, vanilla, eggs, and buttermilk. 3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, whisking until no lumps remain. Pour in brewed coffee, mixing until just combined. 4. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for roughly 30 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
Buttercream Ingredients 397 g Butter 116 g Cream Cheese 129 g Cocoa Powder 600 g Icing Sugar 119 mL Coffee 15 mL Vanilla 3 g Salt Instructions 1. Place butter and cream cheese in a standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (an electric hand mixer also works) 2. Cream on high speed for 1 minute, then turn speed to low and add in cocoa powder. 3. Mix until combined, then add in powdered sugar, brewed coffee, vanilla extract, and salt. 4. Cream on high speed for 1 minute, until mixture has lightened slightly and is fluffy.
