HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment Task 2 Use strategies from a personal stress management plan to manage  two stressful situations  in the workplace involving colleagues and/or clients by: organising workloads to minimise stress notifying others of any variations and difficulties affecting work requirements implementing strategies that help balance work and life priorities Situation 1 – Unclear scope of job role I am in a new role to the industry, scope and guidelines are very blurry in what service we provide to our clients. Resources are mainly found by ourselves and referral pathways are unclear or use their own interpretation to what they expect us to do, this creates stress. Stress management techniques from my personal plan are : Regular communication with Line manager regarding scope of each individual case, eligibility and workload limit with each client, clarification over what our role is. Collectively, we contacted our funding body to establish the role and our expectations within it. I keep work hours as scheduled, I have autonomy over when I start and finish which fit into family needs. I do personal activities such as dance to heighten endorphins and socialise with friends. Situation 2 – Work Overload I have more and more referrals coming through making workload too heavy. I make a plan to succeed. Firstly, I take on referrals with a realistic time element. I provide a phone call immediately to the client and set a realistic time as to when I can take on their case. I set a To-Do list every day and prioritise the list in order of urgency. I consult my colleagues to see what their capacity is and if they are in a position to assist with new referrals. I notify my manager that capacity is reached and I need to be able to service my current clients well and will get to the new ones when I am able. I arrange quality time with my family and do some relaxing leisure pursuits with them, go for nice lunches out on weekends and ride our bikes together to ensure work/life balance is achieved.
