1. How would you explain motivational theory to a colleague? I would describe motivational theory to a colleague as a framework that is well-known for understanding the factors that influence and inspire people's behavior, especially when they are learning. It investigates the reasons behind people's participation in specific activities, the ways in which goals and beliefs impact motivation, and the strategies needed to enhance and sustain motivation. There are some things that ensure a staff member does not become dissatisfied, which includes working conditions, salary, management style, security, status, and the job itself. These are referred to as hygiene factors. If these things aren't applied to the colleagues satisfaction then they will be dissatisfied at work. Additionally, there are certain things that motivate an employee to higher performance. For example, achievement, recognition, advancement opportunities, responsibility, and growth within the job. These are what is called “motivating factors”.Overall, it has been found that hygiene factors make a dissatisfied employee satisfied, but not motivated 2. How can understanding motivation theory help you develop effective active-learning instruction? Provide at least one example. An awareness of motivation theory can be highly beneficial in developing successful active-learning development, as it provides insights into how to captivate and sustain learners' motivation during the learning process. Motivated learners can learn almost anything. Other ways motivational theory can help develop active-learning instruction is by discussing meaningful and relatable topics that will strike the interest of many individuals. For example, collaboration is an active learning strategy that people can learn if they understand the idea of
motivation theory by having those good hygiene factors, as mentioned above. 3. Explain in your own words, with a supporting reference, how active learning supports learning goals. There are many ways to align educational goals with active learning, which is characterized by engaging and collaborative learning experiences. It enhances the growth of abilities to think critically, fosters collaboration as well as interaction, supports the utilization of knowledge in practical contexts, and increases student interest and taking charge of the learning process. It is important that educators create a fun and engaging learning environment so that students are encouraged and empowered to learn, which makes it easier to achieve those desired learning goals. With this, it is essential to incorporate those active-learning strategies and understand the motivation theory. All in all, the educator has a big impact on if students are motivated or not. When educators are engaged and motivated to provide effective teaching approaches, then it automatically passes on to the student, which will become engaged and thriving for personal growth.
