Indoor Classroom Learning Center for STEM Exploration:  List your topic: My topic is  plants . The concept of learning: The concept or learning fact about the topic : I want children to wonder and learn about how plants grow, what they need to survive, and why plants are essential in our environment. List of the indoor classroom learning center: The indoor classroom learning center I selected to provide is  science and math . Describe three (3) different materials (repurposed or obtained) for the learning center: Use examples to explain how each material will support children's curiosity, inquiry, and problem-solving about your topic concept or learning fact. Three different materials for the learning center are: Seeds and pots Children can plant different seeds in small pots and observe how they grow over time. They can measure the height and width of the plants and compare them with each other. They can also learn about the life cycle of plants and what they need to grow, such as water, sunlight, and soil.   Magnifying glasses and leaf samples Children can use magnifying glasses to examine different types of leaves and notice their shapes, colors, textures, and patterns.  Children can sort and classify the leaves based on their characteristics and count how many they have in each category. They can also learn about the function of leaves and how they make food for the plant through photosynthesis.   Books and posters Children can read books and look at posters that show different kinds of plants and their habitats.  Children can learn about the diversity of plants and how they adapt to different environments. They can also learn about the parts of a plant and their roles, such as roots, stems, flowers, and fruit.   Identify Tier 1, 2, and 3 words for your topic  concept or learning fact that will expand children's vocabulary and deepen conceptual knowledge.  Your list should include two (2) words in each tier for a total of six (6) words: Tier 1, 2, and 3 words for my topic concept or learning fact are: Tier 1: plant, grow
Tier 2: observe, compare. Tier 3: photosynthesis, habitat Indoor Classroom Learning Center for STEM Exploration:  Science and Math Topic: Plants Concept: How plants grow and their survival needs Materials for the Learning Center: Seeds and Pots: Purpose:  Children plant various seeds, monitor growth, and compare plant characteristics. Supports:  Observation of plant growth, measurement, understanding of life cycles, and basic needs like water, sunlight, and soil. Magnifying Glasses and Leaf Samples: Purpose:  Examining leaves for shapes, colors, textures, and patterns. Supports:  Classification, counting, and understanding of the function of leaves in photosynthesis. Books and Posters: Purpose:  Introducing diverse plants, their habitats, and the parts of a plant. Supports:  Learning plant diversity, adaptation, and the roles of roots, stems, flowers, and fruits. Tiered Vocabulary for Conceptual Expansion: Tier 1: Plant Grow Tier 2: Observe Compare Tier 3: Photosynthesis Habitat
