Career Goals Reflection Essay
How can my coursework in various subjects be cohesively understood and implemented
in pursuit of my career goals?
I feel though every class and every assignment can help me pursue my career goal. Each
class and each assignment teach different types of skills I can use in the future. College has
taught me to look outside the box on certain assignments and reflect my thoughts. In highschool
I was scared of saying how I honestly felt about something because of how people would look at
me. Even when standing up for myself. As I am still growing into adult hood I have learned the
importance of not being afraid to talk about an issue that is going on. Especially when having a
question about something not being afraid to speak up and talk to the higher ups about it has
been something I have learned. For example I kept procrastinating on making a LinkedIn
account and making a resume. This class encouraged me to sit down and think about my skills
and what I have done. To pick out what I'm good at and what I can be better in. One last thing
course work has taught me is definitely time management skills. To keep myself from doing
everything the last day it has taught me to break up what I'm doing. Whether that be writing a
paper or just doing assignments.
Do my academic and career goals operate within my Christian values, and if so, how?
As I reflect my career goals I do believe that they will operate with my values. I do
believe Christ comes before any decision that I make. When putting Christ as the center of any
life or personal decision I believe that my Christian values will operate with my career goals.
One of my goals right now is to earn the degree I need for my future job. After that it will be
applying to jobs till I get one in the career field. After that moving up in my position of work
until there is no more higher positions. I want to keep improving myself as much as I can. I don't
want to be stumped when it comes to a question someone has. Most importantly though I want
people to see Christ in me. I want to be the light of the darkness. I want people to look at me and
say I want what she has. When Christ is the center of every decision and is apart of your life it is
so comforting. No matter what He is there. Even when having a bad day. There is so many career
goals I want to accomplish and with Him all things are possible.
How will I prepare myself for my career choice between now and graduation?
As I only have a few more months till I get my associates degree in Interdisciplinary
Studies I will keep researching the job I want.
Since I got most of my core classes out of the way
I do plan on farthing my education in this job field. I am going to also start figuring out what
places around can let me kind of let me intern the job to see what they do and what I need to start
studying in order to start the career. This will help me get a feel to see if this is really the career I
want to stick too. I will also be searching around on LinkedIn and see the discussions of the
people who are in the career field, and reach out to ask any questions I may have.
The career I
plan on pursing is radiology and I plan on applying to the hospital to be on staff to start getting
my foot in the door. I want to get my bachelors and radiology and possibly keep moving up from
there. I have already followed radiologist on LinkedIn and plan on starting to contact them soon.
I am also planning on looking at intern positions.
