Do you have any particular areas of interest that might provide fertile ground for a
dissertation topic? If you do have an “area of interest” or a more specific topic within
an interest area, please share with detail
.
A particular area of interest that might provide fertile ground for a dissertation
topic is “Damaged Goods: The psychosocial impact of living with who I say I am and the
tragic consequences of not knowing who God is.”

Is there any literature that relates to your area of interest or specific topic of
exploration? What titles or authors have you already engaged with in this area, and what
resources have you yet to explore?
I have not yet seen anything that relates specifically to this topic of interest.
During my exploration of interest, Jerry Bridges, author of “Who Am I: Identity in Christ”
highlighted relevant topics some of what will be embodied into my essay. In his book,
Bridges stated “for many people, our identities are really broken. They are found in our
past sins and hurts. They are found in what our family has said about us, what teachers
have said about us, they are found in the broken promises of parents, broken marriages
and bad decisions. What this leads to is trying to prove ourselves to God, believing that
God believes the same broken things about us that we believe.”
The resources I have yet to explore is the various verses in the Bible that speaks
about what God has to say about who we are in Him and is no longer damaged goods.
Also other online articles and commentaries surrounding topic.

Are there specific issues and specific sub-topics that relate to the area of interest (or
specific topic) that you have proposed in this discussion? Think through and express
issues and sub-topics that may form the basis for chapters or units within your
dissertation.
Some of the specific issues related to the area of this topic can include the
impact of traumatic experiences and how it can affect our relationship with God,
ourselves and others. Another issue is the repeated feelings of hopelessness.
Lurhmann
proposed the question “Does the way we think about thought alter the way we
recognize the voice of an invisible other?” I am not quite certain, but just an idea of a
few sub-topics: Falling Short. Feeling Stuck. Disengaged. Identity.

Are there particular professors or other such mentors that might be an ideal prospect to
oversee your dissertation topic? These names do not necessarily need to be currently
associated with Liberty University. This is obviously a brainstorming effort for most,
especially if a topic is still in embryonic form.
At this current moment, I do not have any particular professors or other such
mentors that might be an ideal prospect to oversee my dissertation topic. I thought that
LU would assign one to me at its proper time. But if I do need to choose, I would be most
grateful Dr. Price for your support.
