Introduction Workforce: Most educators work in day cares and schools. Professionalism is vital, especially in the Early Childhood Education field. Educators must deal with many people, including colleagues, children, and families. Like every workplace, there are challenges with a Family Childcare Providers. With challenges there are approaches to challenges to help. To help better childcare centers, we must professionalize family childcare.
Current Workforce Statistics Approximately, there are 439,000 educators in the Early Childhood Field nationally. The top industry that attributes is child day care services with approximately 236,000 employees. The second top industry is elementary and secondary school which employs around 93,000 educators. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021).

Challenges of Family Childcare Providers #1 Keeping up with licensing requirements and state standards (Daily Connect, 2021). New teachers who do know or understand various standards. Too much paperwork and not enough time to file. #2 Teacher retention rate and attendance. Not enough incentives. No follow-up or reprimand.

Challenges of Family Childcare Providers # 3 Family Partnerships Practical issues with communication: Families and teachers are not happy in how the partnership. “Parents describe feeling awkward and waiting for a chance to speak in ‘snatched time’ with the teacher who is at the same time managing other children and the environment” (The Education Hub, 2019).
Approaches to Overcome Challenges #1 Preparation for licensing. Modeling from a lead teacher. Licensing standards list. #2 Employee Recognition & Accountability Offer incentives and perks including school program, teacher of the month, attendance lunch. Hold educators accountable through hard conversations or write-ups.
Approaches to Overcome Challenges #3 Family Partnerships Provide multiple options for families to have conferences & meeting. Aim to have two teachers in each class during drop off and pick up (daycares).

Conclusion To make more professionals in the ECE field, there must be resources and tools for success. Professionals must see the challenges and ways to fix those challenges to have a better and community within the center. Professionalize family childcare to for stability.
