Module Two Question 1 Describe one of the beliefs and values of the Navajo as illustrated in your readings. One of the beliefs and values of the Navajo has to do with their healthcare. Navajo believe in a traditional way of healing using herbs, ceremonies, and songs. This is both a religious and spiritual practice that they feel will better their health. Module Two Question 2 Describe one way in which the Navajo have incorporated their beliefs and values into the societal structure on the reservation since regaining some autonomy in the 1970's. One way the Navajo have regained some autonomy and incorporated their values into societal structure is through providing their own education to children. Native American children used to be forced into boarding schools and learn from a European perspective until new acts were placed and children could be taught from home. Module Two Question 3 What beliefs and values can be found in your culture? How do these beliefs and values influence your day-to-day life? In American culture, there is emphasis on values of individualism and work ethic. Individualism influences day-to-day life because there is effort to pursue individual goals and dreams; to be self-reliant and make achievements. Work ethic embodies the belief that anyone can be successful in this culture and this motivates us to work hard. Module Two Question 4 Adopt the social science perspective to create a list of questions about this issue. Write at least two questions each from the point of view of a psychologist, a sociologist, and an anthropologist. The social science issue I am choosing to research is the influences on work/life balance. 1. What are the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral approaches individuals use to
navigate work and personal life demands and maintain a sense of balance? 2. What are the psychological effects of work/life imbalance on individuals' mental health and well-being? 3. How does the ideal of a "balanced" life vary across different social groups, communities, or regions? 4. What are the effects of work/life balance on individual well-being, relationships, and overall quality of life? 5. How does cultural adaptation and globalization influence work/life balance in different communities? 6. How does the influence of technology and digital connectivity vary across cultures and impact work/life balance?
