This assignment is about innovation and technology management. The first part of the textbook concentrates on definitions of innovations including digital innovations, innovative organizations, innovation strategies, and looking at innovations as a core business. As a team, you will discuss these matters and respond to the following questions.
1.
Does innovation matter? In what ways does it make a difference – economically, socially, living standards, humanitarian, etc.?
2.
What determines innovation space? Why does it matter? How companies can explore their innovation space. Provide comparative examples.
3.
How does innovation contribute to competitive advantage? Support your answer with illustrations from both manufacturing and services.
4.
“Digital innovation is just a case of putting old wine in new bottles – the impact on the way we
manage the innovation process is minimal.” Discuss the arguments for and against this point
of view.
5.
What is an innovation strategy? What makes companies change their innovation strategy? 6.
What do you see as the main challenges in developing a strategy for digital innovation?

Is there a risk of a “digital divide” with winners and losers in digital innovation – for example, in the field of healthcare? Illustrate your answer with examples.
