Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Compounds A, B, and C are to be predicted.

Concept Introduction:

▸ A nucleophile has a lone pair of electrons and is a negatively charged species that seeks positively charged species to form a bond. Generally, an electrophile that has a positive charge is attacked by a nucleophile.

▸ Thionyl chloride  is an  inorganic compound  with the  chemical formula  SOCl2. It is chlorinating agent.

▸ Thionyl chloride is used as a reagent for the chlorination of alcohols and acids into acyl chloride.
