Concept explainers
Interpretation : The part of a chemical equation that allows us to determine the amount of product obtained from a known amount of reactants is to be stated.
Concept Introduction : The stoichiometric number is defined as the digit that is written in front of any molecule, atom or ion that is taking part in a
Limiting reagent is the amount of substance that gets totally consumed in reaction.
Answer to Problem 1RQ
The
Explanation of Solution
The stoichiometric coefficient in front of reactants determines how much amount of reactant has taken part in chemical reaction. It also helps in determining the limiting reagent in reaction and its amount in a chemical reaction. It is also known that limiting reagent specifies the amount of product produced in a chemical reaction. Therefore, stoichiometric coefficient tells us about the amount of product obtained.
The stoichiometric coefficient determines the amount of product formed from the known amount of reactants.
