Summary Introduction
Photosynthesis is a process in which light energy is converted into chemical energy of food. The food is provided by the photosynthetic organism in the form of carbohydrates. This is provided either directly or indirectly to all other living organisms. This is carried out by harnessing the energy of the sun to build carbohydrates which cannot be done by non-photosynthesizers. They also produce oxygen which is required for the survival of all aerobically respiring organisms.
