Chapter 8, Problem 3AC
Summary Introduction

To determine:

A situation on the basis of glucose breakdown, the scenario is; a cell has reached to a stage where all the ATPs of the cell have been broken into ADP and phosphate, later this cell is placed in a glucose solution. Will this cell be able to recover and survive.

Introduction:

For its vitality, the cell requires energy to keep its metabolic reactions ongoing. When a metabolic reaction takes place than the number of energy decreases and it gets converted into heat. Cells use a systematic path to capture chemical energy during glucose breakdown in presence of oxygen, cells store more than 35% of the chemical energy in the form of ATP molecules, and release rest energy in the form of heat.

magine a hypothetical situation in which a starving cell reaches the stage where every bit of its ATP has been depleted and converted to ADP plus phosphate. If at this point you place the cell in a solution containing glucose, will it recover and survive? Explain your answer based on what you know about glucose breakdown.
When insulin responding cells remove the vesicles of glucose transporters from the plasma membrane, is this an example of exo- or endocytosis? Is this regulated or unregulated? Use the description above and your knowledge of the human body to explain how you got your answer.
If there are glucose transport proteins in the cell membrane, which way would glucose flow-into or out of the cell? Explain your answer.
