The purpose of the cement tower in the image.
Answer to Problem 20STP
The purpose of the cement tower or cooling tower in the image is to heat rejection in the power plant.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The thermal energy converts into electrical energy in the thermal power plant. The thermal energy provides heat to water for the generation of the pressurized steam.
There are four steps in the conversion of electrical energy from the thermal energy in the power plants. The first is Heating or steam generation, the second is compression, third is the expansion of the steam in the turbine and the last is the rejection of the heat. The rejection of the heat takes place in the cooling tower. The cooling tower the structure of cement tower in which water flows from the top. The water takes the heat and vaporized due to the condensation.
Conclusion:
Thus, the purpose of the cement tower or cooling tower in the image is to heat rejection in the power plant.
