The superior and inferior processes provide support and allow the movement of the vertebral column.

Introduction:

The vertebral column is distributed into five sections; cervical vertebrae, thoracic vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae, sacrum, and coccyx.The developing embryo has 32-34 vertebrae but in adulthood five sacral vertebrae fused to form one bone and 4-5 coccygeal bone fuse to form one bone. The vertebral column has two processes inferior and superior which help in the movement of the vertebral column.
