In the question it is given that: There is a scatterplot which shows the relationship between speed in miles per hour of the winning horses each year.
By looking at the graph we can say that the graph shows a positive direction as the points in the scatterplot shows an upward direction from left to right. Also we can say that while the graph shows a positive direction, the form of the graph is more parabolic. Thus, the rate of improvement throughout the years has slowed down and nearly plateaued. So, the performance has not increased at the same rate throughout the last years.
