Concept explainers
Can you physically touch another person without that person touching you with the same magnitude of force?
To identify: Whether a person physically touch another person without touching.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Single force not exist. Force always appear in pair. According to Newton’s third law of motion, to every action force there is opposite and equal reaction force exist
A person when touch another person, then he applies force on the second person. This is action force. Also, second person also applies an equal and opposite force. This is reaction force. Both forces are equal and opposite.
So, one cannot touch a person physically without touching.
Conclusion:
A person cannot touch physically another person without that person touching same person with the same magnitude of force.
